Local Student Helps Protect Seniors from Coronavirus Exposure as Part of Shop4Seniors Program

Stanton Godshall, a Souderton Area High School graduate and Penn State University student, is doing his part during the coronavirus pandemic by helping protect seniors from being exposed to the virus as part of the Shop4Seniors program, writes Lou Baldwin for the Catholic Philly.

The process is not complicated. An elderly person makes a list of items they want, which they can then email or call in to Shop4Seniors. A young volunteer then goes shopping for them and delivers the items to their address.

There is no delivery charge or tip, the only thing the person pays is what is on the store’s receipt.

And while food items are usually the most requested, seniors can ask for help with anything else. This includes picking up prescriptions at the drug store or dry-cleaning.

The service is still in its infancy but it has already proven to be immensely helpful to its recipients.

“The volunteer was great, and we are grateful for the service that Shop4Seniors provided,” said Olivia of Drexel Hill. “Thank you so much for helping our family.”

The service is available in Philadelphia and its suburbs, including Montgomery County.
