Pottstown-based Hobart’s Run has issued a second round of its COVID-19 Emergency Response grants for Pottstown businesses and nonprofits to five local businesses and four borough nonprofits.

The businesses will receive $1,000 grants each, while the nonprofits will each get $500. Originally, Hobart’s Run had originally planned to issue two nonprofit grants in the second round, but additional donations made by The Hill School community made it possible to add two moqre nonprofit grants.

To award the grants, eighteen applications were evaluated by a panel made up of Hobart’s Run Board members and the Hobart’s Run student leadership committee to determine which organizations had the greatest immediate need.

The panel also took into consideration how the candidates have helped the borough by addressing needs like food and housing insecurity.

The recipients of the small business grants are Grumpy’s Handcarved Sandwiches, Welcome to The Avenue, Maximum Asset, Ratigan Brewing, and Seed and Soil.

Meanwhile, the nonprofit grants were awarded to Pottstown PAL, the Phillies Fire, Pottstown Bible Church, and Trellis for Tomorrow.

For the first round of the COVID-19 Emergency Response grants, Hobart’s Run awarded five $1,000 grants to recently opened small businesses as well as ten $500 grants to nonprofits.
