The third-generation of Williamson Caterers in Willow Grove is determined to survive the current coronavirus pandemic and be there to fulfill the orders for 2021 it is already receiving, writes Andrew Maykuth for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The business has been hit hard by the pandemic. Cancelations began the second week of March, not long after large gatherings were banned by federal officials to halt the spread of the virus.

“The phone was ringing off the hook,” said Rick Williamson, the owner of the catering business.

So Williamson had to lay off four of his full-time employees and take himself off the payroll.

Since then, he has been doing all he can to stay afloat until the crisis is over. He has applied for SBA loans, talked to his creditors, and worked with insurance carriers and benefits administrators.

But through all of this, he remains optimistic about the future, especially with people already booking the company for events next year.

“We’ve got to be positive and tell them that we’re going to be there,” he said. “Whatever it takes, Williamson Caterers will get through this.”
