Montgomery County COVID-19 Morning Update – March 28th
Based on the information found on the County’s COVID-19 website as well as the commissioner’s press conference Friday afternoon, here is quick snapshot of the spread of coronavirus across Montgomery County.
There were 58 new positive Montgomery County COVID-19 cases reported on Friday down from 94 new cases reported Thursday.
These positive individuals are from 30 municipalities, 3 of which including Hatboro, Salford, and West Pottstown, are in municipalities reporting their first cases.
A breakdown of Friday’s reported new positive cases follows:
- Age Range: 12 to 83
- Age Brackets: (6) 10 – 19, (14) 20 – 29, (6) 30 – 39, (7) 40 – 49, (10) 50 – 59, (11) 60 – 69, (3) 70 – 79, (1) 80 – 89
- Gender: 34 females, 24 males
- Hospitalized: (1) Yes, (39) No, (18) Unknown
The 58 new positive cases brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 371 countywide.
Of those 371 confirmed cases countywide, 189 are male, 179 are female.
Through noon Thursday, the County’s drive-thru testing center on Temple University’s Ambler Campus in Upper Dublin had tested 1,631 individuals since opening Saturday morning. Of those already tested, 95 new positive cases have been identified from the nearly 430 test results already received by the county.
The average age of individuals with COVID-19 is 47.4 years old with the youngest patient being a 1 year-old Royersford boy and a 95 year-old Abington man, the oldest.
Fortyseven of the County’s 62 municipalities are home to at least one individual with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

The death of a 95 year-old Cheltenham man from the coronavirus Friday brings the number of deaths in the County to four, 18-percent of the 22 deaths attributed to the coronavirus statewide.
The County’s total number of reported cases represent 16.7-percent of the 2, 218 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases across Pennsylvania.
By comparison, as of noon Wednesday, with the exception of Philadelphia County with 530 cases, neighboring and surrounding counties all have fewer positive COVID-19 cases than does Montgomery County:

Also statewide, 241 patients have been hospitalized with COVID-19 related sickness. Since the first hospitalization on March 6th, the age range of patients hospitalized across the state is:
