Montgomery County COVID-19 Tuesday Afternoon Update – March 31st
Based on the information found on state and county’s COVID-19 website and the Monday afternoon commissioner press conference, here is quick snapshot of the spread of coronavirus across Montgomery County and the Delaware Valley.
There were 75 new positive Montgomery County COVID-19 cases reported on Monday, up significantly from the 27 new cases reported Sunday. The increase is due to the number of test results reported rather than a dramatic increase in the number of cases reported.
The positive cases are from 27 municipalities, only two of which, North Wales and Telford, are reporting their two cases.
A breakdown of Sunday’s reported new positive cases follows:
- Age Range: 11 – 89
- Age Brackets: (4) 10 – 19, (9) 20 – 29, (13) 30 – 39, (10) 40 – 49, (9) 50 – 59, (11) 60 – 69, (11) 70 – 79, (8) 80 – 89
- Gender: 36 females, 39 males
- Hospitalized: (13) No, (57) Unknown, (5) Yes
The 75 new positive cases brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 506 countywide.
Of those 506 confirmed cases countywide, 259 are male, 243 are female.
The average age of individuals with COVID-19 is 47.9 years old with the youngest patient being a 1 year-old Royersford boy and a 95 year-old Abington man, the oldest.
Fiftytwo of the County’s 62 municipalities are home to at least one individual with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

One new coronavirus related death, an 82 year-old Springfield Township woman, was reported in Montgomery County Monday, moving the County’s COVID-19 death toll to 5, 7.9-percent of the 63 deaths attributed to the coronavirus statewide.
The County’s total number of reported cases represent 10.4-percent of the 4,843 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases across Pennsylvania.
Since testing began on March 20th, Montgomery County has tested 2,364 individuals for COVID-19 at its Drive-through Testing Center in Upper Dublin. Of those tested, results from only 60-percent of the tests have been returned. 13-percent of returned tests have been positive.
By comparison, as of noon Tuesday, with the exception of Philadelphia County with 1,197 cases, neighboring and surrounding counties all have fewer positive COVID-19 cases than does Montgomery County:
