Arcadia University Donates Surplus Emergency Supplies to Local EMS Personnel
Arcadia University responded to regional COVID-19 call for assistance by donating its surplus stock of emergency supplies to local EMS personnel.
The school’s Facilities, Maintenance, and Housekeeping team took the initiative to provide help for local emergency personnel who are continuously exposed to the coronavirus.
The team searched all the housekeeping closets and storage areas for any available resources and then sorted them into high exposure kits.
The kits included N95 respirator masks, gloves, Uvex splash-proof goggles, Tyvek suits, hand sanitizer, and alcohol wipes.
“Residence halls, administrative buildings, and recreational facilities are mostly unoccupied due to the National Emergency, but the supplies that kept them running are still in place,” said Tom Macchi, associate vice president of Facilities and Capital Planning.
He added that sharing some of their stockpiles would provide “our local emergency personnel with the tools they need to protect themselves as they unselfishly step into the breach for us, day after day.”
With the help of the University’s essential units, #ArcadiaStrong teams got to work. They organized rubber gloves into sets, divided dispense gallon-size Purell hand sanitizer into smaller bottles, and added special notes of encouragement for the EMS personnel.
These even include a photo of Macchi’s dog, Bear, for a quick pick-me-up.
