BSN Sports, a division of Varsity Brands,has acquired the team sports business of Wayne Sporting Goods, based in Wayne, reports SGBonline.com.

The team sports business was started and built up by the Galczenski family over 64 years.  As part of the transition, Steve Galczenski, a third-generation family member, is joining BSN Sports, along with his support team.

The family will close the retail store in downtown Wayne.

“Over more than 60 years, the Galczenski family has built an enviable and trusted organization because they relentlessly focused on delivering superb customer service,” said BSN Sports President Terry Babilla.

“This dedication, in turn, has ensured that WSG is the go-to, trusted team sports provider in Delaware, Chester and Montgomery Counties.”

Babilla said those attributes are “seamlessly aligned with our own.”

He promised a commitment to preserve the best of Wayne Sporting Good’s culture and local school and team sports service, while drawing on BSN Sport’s extensive inventory, leading technology and superior sports platform.

Owners Roger and Steve Galczenski said the acquisition will give the company the backing of the number one team distributor in the country.
