How To Make Main Line Even Better: Affordable Housing, Leave Cars Behind
Several regional leaders talked about how to make the already successful Main Line area even better during the recent “Re-Imagining the Main Line” panel organized by Main Line School Night, writes Linda Stein for the Main Line Media News.
The four panelists included Madeline Bell, president and CEO of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Juliet J. Goodfriend, founder and board chair of the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, Marty Grims, restaurateur and founder of Fearless Restaurants, and Jerry Sweeney, chairman of the King of Prussia Rail Coalition Advisory Committee and president, CEO, and trustee of Brandywine Realty Trust.
During the discussion, the panelists touched on issues of traffic density and affordable housing among other areas.
Grims said one of the biggest issues on the Main Line right now is finding staff. Bell added that one way to attract employees is to offer affordable housing for them.
“It’s really important that you don’t create communities that people can’t afford to live in,” she said.
She also added she encourages employees to use public transportation, bikes, and walking to relieve traffic density which is becoming a major issue for the area.
