Warwick native Eaden Marti used a blend of mentalism, magic, and years of performing experience to wow audiences and judges and win the national Tannen’s Magic Competition in Bryn Mawr, writes Zack DeLuca for the Greenfield Reporter.

The 19-year-old local mentalist and magician has been attending Tannen’s Magic Camp since he was 14. He spent the beginning of the summer preparing his act for this national event.

The week-long conference is hosted annually and attracts young performers from all over the country. It culminates with this competition.

“Psychological readings, mind reading, hypnosis,“ said Marti, ”I do all of that stuff and mix it in with sleight of hand.”

After having passed the general rounds, Marti found himself facing off against the top three performers in the senior age competition.

“The competition has a seven-minute time limit so I took a piece of my stage show and changed it around,” said Marti. “With the judges and time limit, you have to be quick and to the point.”

The tactic worked, earning him first prize while also achieving a major milestone on the road to becoming a professional performer.
