Anita Castellar, CEO of Fangirl Consulting and Brand Management, spoke at Hatboro-Horsham Education Foundation's Girl's STEAM kick-off.

Anita Castellar, former Disney product developer and CEO of Fangirl Consulting and Brand Management, was the guest speaker at Hatboro-Horsham Education Foundation’s Girl’s STEAM kick-off, according to a staff report from Patch .

“The goal of the Kick-Off is to encourage our girls to follow their interests in STEAM, open them up to new career possibilities, give them inspiring role models and connect them with peers of similar interests,” said Stephanie Yoder, executive director of the HHEF.

Castellar spoke to students at Hatboro-Horsham High School about her educational and career path and the challenges she comes across as a woman working in a STEAM – or STEM plus arts – field.

“I am hoping to give these young ladies the head start that my generation did not have growing up,” said Castellar. “My goal is threefold: education, inspiration, and aspiration.”

During her time at Disney, Castellar launched the “Build Your Own Lightsaber” experience at the company’s Star Wars attraction. She also headed the hardlines licensing business for several franchises, including Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

The Girl’s STEAM Series launched three years ago. Previous speakers include Dr. Morgan Cable, NASA research scientist, and Brittany Shipp, NBC meteorologist.
