U.S. Rep. Madeleine Dean (Pa.-4) was the special guest at a small business celebration in Upper Dublin Township at Track 3 Microbrewery & Coffee House. Track 3 maintains a special relationship with another local business, Wake Coffee in Ambler, Pennsylvania. Track 3 utilizes Wake coffee in the production of unique coffee drinks and several of their craft beers brewed on-site.

The first and only microbrewery located in Upper Dublin, Track 3 opened in April 2019 in Dreshertown Plaza with a music theme that carries throughout the comfortable and attractive space. Track 3’s beers are mostly named after the third track of a particular album loved by the owners, such as “Fearless,” a hazy New England double IPA from Pink Floyd’s “Meddle” album, and “Crushing Day,” a tart and refreshing peach gose from Joe Satriani’s “Surfing With The Alien” album.

Track 3 also serves nitro cold brew coffee, as well as drip and espresso-based drinks starting at 7 a.m. using Wake Coffee’s locally roasted coffee beans. Wake Coffee’s grand opening is planned for mid-October, and will provide a state-of-the-art roastery, coffee shop with farm-to-table food from local farms, and a 5,000-square foot outdoor beer garden for local breweries to come and serve their beer.

At today’s event, local businesses, community organizations, lenders and other guests toured both companies’ facilities. In addition to Rep. Dean, guests included Roger Zacharia, President and CEO, Ambler Savings Bank; Joe Burdo, Owner, Track 3 Microbrewery & Coffee House; Alec Satterly, Owner, Wake Coffee; and Winthrop Watson, President and CEO, FHLBank Pittsburgh. Also in attendance were Bailey Landis, Office of Pennsylvania Senator Maria Collett, and Amber Turner, Office of U.S. Senator Pat Toomey.

“It is inspiring to be here celebrating the success and contributions of small businesses within our community,” said Rep. Dean. “Partnerships between small business owners and locally focused banks are fueling economic development across our region and ensuring the vitality of our neighborhoods.”

The event was hosted by FHLBank Pittsburgh, which provided a portion of the funding to finance the new businesses through its Banking On Business (BOB) program. BOB offers qualified small businesses access to secondary loans that supplement the primary loans made by FHLBank member financial institutions. Ambler Savings Bank, a member of FHLBank Pittsburgh, secured the BOB funding and provided additional financing to support the businesses’ operations.

“We are pleased to join our member Ambler Savings Bank and Rep. Dean in recognizing the importance of small businesses across our region,” said Watson. “FHLBank Pittsburgh is committed to working with our member financial institutions and local community leaders to help foster an environment that creates jobs and economic growth. Last year alone, our BOB program provided $6.5 million in financing for small businesses.

Track 3 owner Joe Burdo commented, “It is a privilege to welcome everyone today. This is more than a celebration of small business. This is a celebration of giving life to my dream of bringing together two of my passions, coffee and beer brewing.”

Alec Satterly, owner of Wake Coffee, added, “Everyone associated with our business is incredibly grateful to the Ambler community, those gathered here today, and the many individuals and organizations that have supported us throughout this effort.”

Track 3 Microbrewery & Coffee House received BOB financing during FHLBank Pittsburgh’s 2018 funding round. Wake Coffee received a BOB loan during the 2019 funding round.
