“I’m thrilled we can help the National Park,” said Kirsten Tallman, the director of visitor services for the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board and also the race director.

“We had another record-breaking year and I’m extremely proud. I take this very personally. It’s great that the money goes back to the park to enhance experience for visitors. We have a community that absolutely loves this park.”

Tallman, a runner herself who lives in King of Prussia and trains on trails throughout Valley Forge Park, has been there since the beginning. This year, more than 1,500 runners participated in the traditional 5-mile run, 3-mile walk or 1-mile kids run, which was held on April 28.

Each year Valley Forge Historical National Park receives 1.8 million visitors and generates about $36 million in financial impact to Montgomery County. That number is sure to increase when the new state-of-the-art visitor’s center opens in 2020.
