President Donald Trump’s national “Women for Trump” campaign, aimed at bettering the president’s support among women, launched with a rally in King of Prussia, writes Julia Terruso for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

In 2016, Trump lost among women voters by 13 percent. Meanwhile, the gap between his support from women and men, 41 to 52 percent respectively, is tied for the largest difference in the nation’s recent history.

Now campaign officials hope to improve on these numbers by encouraging women to fund-raise, train volunteers, register voters, and speak up about their support for the president.

Around 1,000 women showed up for the inaugural rally.

A number of Trump’s top female advisors and high-profile supporters were present at the event. These included Lara Trump, wife of Eric Trump, and conservative blogger celebrities Diamond and Silk.

The campaign had used voter data to pick King of Prussia for its inaugural event.

“The women in this room could be integral,” said campaign manager Brad Parscale. “If we win Pennsylvania by 5,000 votes, it might be because everyone in this room walks out and gets four people to vote, it could be the difference.”
