Variety honored at Montgomery County’s Office of Developmental Disabilities awards breakfast

Variety – the Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley is proud that five staff and clients were honored at the Office of Developmental Disabilities’ Annual Awards Breakfast held at the Westover Country Club. From Left to Right are Tim Lawrence (Personal Achievement Award), Variety’s Director of Programs Heather Rothman (Management Staff Award), Michelle Limbert (Personal Achievement Award), Variety’s Community Training Coordinator (Direct Support Professional Award), and Isaac Johnson (Personal Achievement Award) who all were recognized for their hard work and dedication to Variety and its mission. – Variety – the Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley is pleased to announce five agency staff and clients were recognized in three categories at Montgomery County’s Office of Developmental Disabilities (ODD) 31st Annual Awards Ceremony and Breakfast on March 28 at the Westover Golf Club in Jeffersonville. These individuals were nominated by co-workers or peers then selected by ODD’s Developmental Disability Committee.

Tim Lawrence, Isaac Johnson and Michelle Limbert received the Personal Achievement Award which recognizes individuals with developmental disabilities who have made great steps toward reaching their goals, enriching their lives and embodying the principles of Everyday Lives. All three of these individuals are success stories of the VarietyWorks career development program and all three are currently employed in the community at better than minimum wage jobs.

Tyler Kammerle, Variety’s Community Training Coordinator, was honored with the Direct Support Professional Award. This is given to professionals who extend themselves beyond the typical expectations of the position and who provide caring and exemplary service and support to the individuals they serve. Regarding Kammerle’s work, Variety Director of Programs Heather Rothman said, “Although I feel truly proud and blessed to be able to work with the entire Variety team, I’m delighted for Tyler to win this award. Tyler’s dedication to his program, but especially
his clients, is a joy to behold. He has helped three people so far develop the skills and confidence to obtain community employment and we look forward to all his future successes.

Heather Rothman, Variety Director of Programs was recognized with a Management Staff Award which is given to persons who demonstrate innovative ways to serve individuals, provide exemplary supports and service, and promote the principles of choice and self-determination. These professionals have motivated individuals to excel. In nominating Rothman, Variety’s PR & Marketing Director Mary Fuller wrote, “With all of the programming options Heather has brought to Variety – the Children’s Charity of the Delaware Valley she has certainly demonstrated innovative ways to serve our children, provide exemplary supports and service while absolutely promoting the principles of choice and self-determination. In fact, that is her mantra.”
