The Goldenberg group announced the purchase of a large piece of land in Upper Dublin Township.
The 50-plus acres the group purchased has colloquially become known as St. Mary’s Villa in recent years. The Goldenberg Group is teaming up with Guidi Homes for the second time to redevelop the property in an attempt to recreate the success of Haverford Reserve. The team plans to build luxury homes to create a residential community similar to Haverford Reserve They want to start delivering homes as early as 2020.

The 50-acre site is located at 701 S. Bethlehem Pike at the intersection of Lindenwold avenue and Bethlehem Pike. St. Mary’s Villa, previously owned by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, served as a youth home and originally was owned by Dr. Richard Van Zeelust Mattison.
Dr. Mattison became one of Ambler’s Founders, he was a principal at Keasby & Mattison, the town’s primary employer. Dr. Mattison built many of the homes in Ambler including Lindenwold Castle which he encased in stone to resemble Windsor Castle. He founded a library and Trinity Memorial Espiscopal Church and also built an opera house.
The once beautiful estate has begun to deteriorate in recent years and the community would like to see Lindenwold Castle preserved. “The ability to preserve many features of this once elegant estate is one of the reasons we were so attracted to this site in addition to its premier location,” said Rob Fluehr, director of residential development at The Goldenberg Group.
The Goldenberg Group and Gudi homes plan to deliver 104 villas and carriage homes for sale as part of a carefully planned luxury community. The homes were designed to mirror the historic beauty of the estate while showcasing modern design.
