Acres of DIY ideas to be offered at Philadelphia Home and Garden Show in Oaks
Philly Home Show and Philly Home + Garden Show attendees can explore a variety of home solutions from local experts, gain ideas and insights from TV home design show celebrities, and acquire new craft project skills when the two home shows return to the area in January and February. Both will feature the latest trends in home design and improvement, and offer acres of inspiration for almost any kind of home renovation.
The six-day Philly Home Show, now in its 38th year, will take place over two weekends, January 11-13 and 18-20, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (11th & Arch Streets in Center City). For its fourth edition, the Philly Home + Garden Show will be at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks (100 Station Ave. in Oaks, PA) during the weekend of February 15-17. Both shows are produced by Marketplace Events, the nation’s largest producer of home shows, which has a local office in Plymouth Meeting.

“City dwellers appreciate the urban living focus of the Philly Home Show, while suburbanites are inspired by the expanded yard and garden features of the Philly Home + Garden Show,” said Jenna Naffin, Show Manager for both the Philly Home Show and the Philly Home + Garden Show. “Throughout the year, we work to bring in new ideas and products that each show’s audience will find most useful and inspirational, along with the experts whose experience and advice will really resonate with them.”
This year, the Philly Home Show will feature celebrity appearances from Clint Harp, the wood-loving carpenter from HGTV’s Fixer Upper and his own DIY Network show, Wood Work, and contractor Matt Blashaw, known from such HGTV and DIY Network shows as Yard Crashers, Vacation House for Free, Blog Cabin, and Ellen’s Design Challenge, among others. Among other helpful features, space-saving design solutions for small interiors and backyards will be showcased.
For the Philly Home + Garden Show, celebrities who’ll share their insights with attendees will be Ty Pennington, carpentry and home design expert from TV shows Trading Spaces, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and American Diner Revival, and the hot home design duo Madcap Cottage. The latest in smart home technology and many new ideas for outdoor spaces are just some of this show’s highlights.
Creativity and interactivity is encouraged with free “Make-It, Take It” workshops that are offered at both shows. These allow attendees to flex their DIY skills (and learn new ones) by creating new decor projects to bring home. This year, a new feature at both shows will be a Succulent Bar for creating custom, take-home planters from a wide selection of pots, succulent plants, and “toppings.”
In 2018, more than 40,000 people attended the Philly Home Show, and nearly 20,000 attended the Philly Home and Garden Show. For show information and tickets, visit www.phillyhomeshow.com and www.phillyhomeandgarden.com, or visit a nearby Wegmans location to purchase discounted tickets.
