Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) invites the community to come and enjoy our students’ Dance Ensemble Concert and Fall Performing Showcases. All performances are free and open to the public. They will be held in MCCC’s Science Center Theater, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell. For free tickets, visit mc3.edu/tickets.

On Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. the Dance Ensemble Fall Concert will feature a variety of student-choreographed works, ranging from modern to hip hop. This is the 10-year anniversary of the Dance Performance Ensemble. To celebrate, MCCC will be featuring two dances choreographed by alumna Maureen Rafferty of Bowman Dance Company & School.

On Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 12:30 p.m. students will present a one-hour matinee preview of the Fall Performing Arts Showcase featuring a wide array of music and dance performances.

Also on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. the Performing Arts Showcase (Evening 1) will feature the MCCC Choir and Friends under the direction of Music Associate Professor Andrew Kosciesza. They will perform selections from the Broadway hit musical “Dear Evan Hansen.”

On Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m., the Performing Arts Showcase (Evening 2) will feature the MCCC Jazz and Friends.

The Dance Ensemble and Performing Arts Showcase concerts are presented at the end of every semester.

More about MCCC’s Dance Program – moving to Central Campus in Blue Bell:

MCCC is now accepting registration for its Associate in Arts degree program in Dance. Starting this spring, the Dance program will be moving to Central Campus in Blue Bell. This 63-credit program provides both a liberal arts background and dance courses comparable to classes offered during the first two years at a four-year institution. Classes include modern dance, ballet, jazz, hip hop, dance improvisation, dance composition, dance repertory and performance, dance wellness and fitness and dance history.  The Associate in Arts degree program in Dance allows students to transfer into a baccalaureate program in dance at many colleges and universities.

Dance classes are open to all students, regardless of their majors, and will meet core education requirements for Exercise and Health Sciences and Aesthetic Sensibility and the Arts.
