Tech Talk: Montco nabs share of $500K IT training grant

Montgomery County is one of six southeastern Pennsylvania counties that will benefit from a $500,000 IT training grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The grant, funded by the Department of Labor & Industry and the Department of Community and Economic Development, was awarded to Southeast Pennsylvania Regional Workforce Development Boards, which includes Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, writes Michelle Caffrey at bizjournals.com.

The divide between demand and supply in the region’s current tech workforce is the main barrier to employment growth in the tech area, according to a 2017 report from the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia. Employers are struggling to fill key tech-related positions like those in back-end development, quality assurance and data science.
