The project, seen in this screen shot, will involve 128,000 square feet of retail space anchored by a grocery store, an apartment complex with 402 units ranging from 553 square feet to 2,529 square feet and a resort-style pool, as well as 114 age-restricted residences.

The first steps have begun for the Promenade at Upper Dublin, BET Investment’s  $200 million mixed-use development on 75 acres at the corner of Welsh and Dreshertown roads in Upper Dublin.

The project will involve 128,000 square feet of retail space anchored by a grocery store, an apartment complex with 402 units ranging from 553 square feet to 2,529 square feet and a resort-style pool, as well as 114 age-restricted residences. The project will also have a 2.7-acre park and three miles of trails that connect to nearby parks., writes Natalie Kostelni in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Expected to be completed in 2020, the project features retail space anchored by a grocery story, apartments, and age-restricted residences. There will also be miles of trails connecting local parks.

The Upper Dublin site had initially been approved for three office buildings totaling 750,000 square feet, but new zoning and an overlay were adopted to allow for this mixed-use development. Townships are increasingly finding mixed-use development works better in their communities rather than single-purpose zoning and that they create a downtown area that many are lacking.
