“We are overjoyed to receive the highest award and recognition available from this international competition for our Five Saints Blood Orange Liqueur” shared John George, founder and distiller at Five Saints Distilling. “After receiving a SIP Gold medal for our Savory Tuscan Style Gin in 2017 we sent in our Blood Orange Liqueur for the 2018 competition with hopes for a medal. In a crowd of over 780 competitors, receiving the highest honor of “Best in Class” liqueur is a wonderful recognition that we are still processing. Our team is elated!”
The SIP Awards takes a number of measures to ensure the objectivity of the consumer evaluation. All judges are screened to make sure they are not affiliated with spirit brands or the spirit industry. Also all spirits are served chilled and undiluted for blind tasting. The double-blind competition was based on a 100-point scale with the goal of recognizing and celebrating world-class spirits with consumers, enthusiasts and industry professionals. Samples were evaluated in category flights and scored individually, with judges casting their votes for Best in Class, Platinum, Double Gold, Gold, Silver and Bronze for each qualifying category.
John adds “Five Saints is a micro-distillery that is enjoying great organic growth. We make premium spirits that are unique and folks truly enjoy. This and other competitions reaffirm our work. As we continue to grow we are seeking US distribution outside of Pennsylvania as well as international export opportunities. Such recognition highlights the premium quality of our small batch hand crafted award winning spirits.”
