Di Bruno Bros. and Elmwood Park Zoo are the perfect pairing at this year’s Wine Safari
By Eric Huskey
Di Bruno Bros., the highly renowned, family-owned cheese monger based in Philadelphia, is pairing up with Norristown’s Elmwood Park Zoo to host the zoo’s 3rd annual fundraising bacchanal, Wine Safari. On Friday August 3rd, hundreds will pour into the zoo to try incredible samplings from the area’s best vintners, brewers and distillers – and Di Bruno Bros. is helping to put out the spread.
Offering up delicious appetizers to go along with the aperitifs, Di. Bruno Bros. will be furnishing the event with old-world Italian delicacies. Showcasing hallmark cheeses like aged provolone and parmesan – and of course the eternally popular marinated ciliegine (“mozzarella balls” to fellow laypeople) – along with prosciutto di Parma, capicola and assorted antipasti, the famous fixture of Philly’s Italian Market will ensure the fundraiser’s guests will have a little something in their stomachs when the vino begins to flow.

Rounding out the food service at the event will be King of Prussia Italian restaurant Maggiano’s bruschetta bar and a complete dinner buffet by the zoo’s own Savory Safari. The event’s guests will feed giraffes, greet animals and roam the zoo as they dine on all of this delicious food – and of course partake in the offerings of the 11 incredible wineries, breweries, and distilleries. But the best part of the event: it’s all for a good cause.
As one of the non-profit zoo’s annual fundraisers, the proceeds from Wine Safari will go toward funding the zoo’s education and animal-care departments – providing the means for everything from school-outreach programs, to the furtherance of special-needs accessibility to care of its ever-growing animal family.
You can browse what Di Bruno Bros. has on the dinner menu, peruse the growing list of libations being offered on the digital tasting passport, and purchase your tickets all from the event’s website, epzwinesafari.com.
