So your young culinarian isn’t sure if he or she prefers cooking or baking at this point? How about letting them learn it all?

For seven weeks this summer, Central Montco Technical High School will be the home of a kid-friendly kitchen for budding chefs ages 9 to 15. What will make the kitchen a place where kids will want to hone their skills are the passion and know-how that their instructors Maria Crann and Jarrett Young will bring to the Create-a-Cook Summer Cooking Camp, which runs June 18 through Aug. 3 at a cost of $300 per week , writes Gary Puleo in The Times Herald.

According to his create-a-cook.com bio, Young is an instructor for the Accredited Culinary Arts Program at Delaware County Community College under the direction of former Executive Chef of Le Bec Fin, Peter Gilmore. Young has held titles from Executive Chef to Entremetier Chef, with his intense training having started with world-renowned French Master Chef Dominique Filoni, at Savona Cucina Della Costa. Young said his hope is to lend the art of cooking a different flavor for people who never knew cooking could be so much fun.

While you may not know how to whip up a homemade English muffin, by the end of the summer, your Create-a-Cook grad will.

“Everything will be made from scratch. Nothing will be done with pre-made items like some schools do. English muffins really aren’t that hard to make,” said Crann, who promised that the kids will also know how to make the strawberry jam to smear across the muffins as well.
