Mercy LIFE leaders and local officials broke ground on a new adult day medical center in Montgomery County. The new Mercy LIFE – Norristown facility, located at 1430 Dekalb Street, will be a welcoming place for seniors ages 55 and over to receive medical, nutritional, social and spiritual services, while being transported safely to and from their own homes.

The organization will invest $6 million into Montgomery County to make available the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) model of care for more than 3,000 Medicare and Medicaid eligible seniors in the region.

“Soon, Mercy LIFE will help Montgomery County seniors continue to live independently, while still receiving comprehensive, and, most importantly, compassionate care,” said Dan Drake, Senior Vice President, Continuing Care, Mercy Health System. “We are looking forward to opening our doors to area seniors this summer.”

Councilwoman Valerie Scott Cooper, Norristown, 3rd District; Rep. Matt Bradford, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and, Steve Kelly, Regional Manager for Senator Pat Toomey, joined Drake for the groundbreaking ceremony.

Last February, Mercy LIFE announced it will provide Montgomery County seniors with access to the PACE model of coordinated care, which offers comprehensive federal and state-funded primary care, adult day services, social activities, home care, among others. The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Office of Long Term Living assigned the Montgomery County service area to Mercy LIFE in early February 2017.
