Mike Feinberg, a seasoned climber, had hit a wall when finding new challenges — he just about had run out of them. So, he decided to take matters into his own hands, and build one.

A rock climbing aficionado since high school, the Lower Merion native had looked near and far for the right location to build the state-of-the-art Reach Climbing & Fitness and ultimately found it in his own backyard. A partner at Penn Pen-Del Real Estate in Bala-Cynwyd, Feinberg realized, after searching for a site throughout the area, that the company’s own property at Bridgeport Business Park was the ideal location for his project, writes Gary Puleo in The Times Herald.

“I think a lot of people will gravitate to us who are currently climbing elsewhere. Climbing is going to be in the next summer Olympics and that just shows how the sport is gaining traction and gaining in popularity.”

The facility will also include treadmills and other cardio equipment, as well as weight training and yoga classes, and is expected to open in early fall at 401 E. Fourth St. in Bridgeport.

“I’m excited about this. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” Feinberg said.
