Wondering where your son or daughter should go to college? How about the one that produces the top salaries after graduation? Temple is tops in our area.

The U.S. Department of Education has released its latest College Scorecard – an in-depth look at performance of virtually all colleges, universities and technical schools where students are eligible for financial aid around the country, writes the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Philadelphia Business Journal searched the Scorecard for institutions within 50 miles of Center City Philadelphia. We then ranked the schools (in the gallery above) in ascending order by the median salary students make after attending.

Here’s what the various datapoints on the charts mean:

Salary After Attending: The median earnings of former students who received federal financial aid, 10 years after entering the school.

Graduation Rate: The graduation rate within 150 percent of the expected time to completion. Typically, that works out to six years for a standard four-year degrees and three years for a two-year degree. These rates are only for full-time students enrolled for the first time.

Average Annual Cost: The average annual net price for federal financial aid recipients, after aid from the school, state or federal government. For public schools, this is only the average cost for in-state students.
