Index Shows Which Local Companies are Most Transparent in Political Donations
For anyone interested which organizations and political candidates recently received financially support from Philadelphia area companies the answers are in this year’s CPA-Zicklin Index, writes Erin Arvedlund for Philly.com.
The index gives an overview of every S&P 500 company, including the policy each company has on political contributions and the amounts and to whom they contributed.

Many local names are on the annual CPA-Zicklin Index, including Radnor’s Lincoln Financial and Conshohocken’s AmerisourceBergen.
The index was started eight years ago by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Center for Political Accountability in Washington. This year’s findings were presented by Wharton at a special round-table event last Friday.
According to Bruce Freed, president of the Center for Political Accountability, the index is useful for investors to evaluate the policies and accountability of a company and “assess whether they follow best practices for disclosure and accountability, and the extent to which they commit.”
Among the local companies on this year’s index is Comcast with 82.9 out of 100, AmerisourceBergen with 85.7, and Campbell Soup with 68.6.
Lower down the list are FMC with 31.4 and Lincoln National with 37.1.
