Lower Merion Author Proves That Not Giving Up Pays Off
Children’s books author Nahjee Grant drew a sizable crowd for his book signing visit to the Barnes & Noble bookstore in Willow Grove, writes Len Lear for Chestnut Hill Local.
However, Grant was not always on track for success as during ninth grade at Lower Merion High School, he was failing in his classes.
“My mom tried her best to get through to me to do better and at times set me up with tutors for after school sessions, but I never really went,” said Grant.
But after some prompting from his parents and an ultimatum given by the principal, Grant finally got his act together. After graduating high school, Grant studied Business Administration at Villanova University part time, and spent one-and-a-half years at Montgomery County Community College for Entrepreneurship and Communications.

However, he discovered his true passion during a short story writing course. This prompted him to start writing children’s books that encourage kids to avoid the same mistakes that had nearly derailed his own future.
“I learned that your actions and inaction have consequences and to take full advantage of a second chance if you’re lucky enough to get one,” he said.
