Research by Jenkintown’s Keep Highways Safe has identified the 25 most dangerous trucking companies in Pennsylvania based on their accident record.

KHS’s research shows that commercial trucks were involved in accidents that caused 381 fatalities and 7,728 injuries across the state from 2015 to 2017. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, most of these resulted from issues with either the tires or brakes, or from unsecured or overloaded trailers.

The research also found that 64 percent of the top 25 trucking companies were responsible for the highest number of injuries and fatalities.

According to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the most dangerous trucking company when it comes to injuries here is Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority.

SEPTA vehicles were involved in accidents that resulted in 478 injuries over the two year period. Second on the list is FedEx Ground Package System with 114 traffic-related injuries, followed closely by New Prime in third place with 104 traffic-related injuries.

The remaining twenty-two companies were involved in significantly less, with no more than 65 accidents each over the same period.

“Because of their massive sizes and heavy weights, trucks are more likely to cause serious damage and even death,” said Jay Solnick, attorney and founder of Keep Highways Safe.
