Conshohocken native, Alec Ounsworth, recently took the time to talk about the growing success of his band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah in a telephone interview with Ed Condran from The News and Observer.

The latest album from the popular indie band which is called ‘The Tourist,’ has been written entirely by Ounsworth. It has already been getting some exciting reviews, in part, because it represents a significant departure from the band’s prior albums.

In fact, many have found this fifth album to be even more melodic and it includes some surprising elements that are bringing in new fans.

“I try to make them as different as possible,” said singer-songwriter Ounsworth in a phone interview.

However, he was quick to point out that despite the bands growing success, constantly creating a completely new and different album takes its toll over time. Even so, he managed to finalize the material and record this one with the band in just a week at a Philadelphia studio.

“Everybody goes through ups and downs,” said Ounsworth. “I was going through it, but I made it, and have this album to show for it.”
