Former Padres and Dolphins CEO to Lead Entercom’s Sports Operations

Mike Dee, the former San Diego Padres and Miami Dolphins CEO and now Entercom Communications’ president of sports is happy to be in Philadelphia area.

In preparation for the addition of some of the country’s most significant sports radio channels as part of its acquisition of CBS Radio, Bala Cynwyd’s Entercom Communications has hired Mike Dee to lead its sports operations, writes Jeff Blumenthal for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Dee, the former CEO of the San Diego Padres and the Miami Dolphins, will serve as Entercom’s new Sports’ president reporting directly to Entercom CEO, David Field.

In his new position, Dee will focus on a national sales and marketing program, revenue development, discovery of new platform opportunities and developing key partnerships.

A Franklin and Marshall College graduate, Dee started his sports business career over two decades ago as director of corporate development at the San Diego Padres.

As a protégé of Larry Lucchino, he followed Lucchino to the Boston Red Sox in 2002. He then moved on to become president of Fenway Sports Group and became CEO of the Miami Dolphins in 2009 and then CEO of the Padres in 2013.

“Mike is a highly talented and accomplished executive with over 20 years of leadership experience” said Field. He is “uniquely equipped to help us develop cohesive national opportunities across sports.“
