“The modern girl is very busy,” explained Amanda Hill, fashion spokeswoman for Bloomingdale’s stores. “She’s always on the move.”

The latest easy-breezy style is now positioned alongside athletic-inspired pieces that have gotten a grown-up makeover. The athletic suit is returning to the days of fitted glory, insuring it is both comfortable and versatile.

The must-have prints for this season offer some unexpected combinations, such as pinstripes being patched into a menswear-inspired button down shirts adorned with cold-shoulder details.

More importantly, casual dress can now be combined with various carefully selected accessories for an elegant look suitable for special occasions.

“The woman who travels a lot needs her clothes to do more,” said Joan Shepp, owner of the eponymous Center City boutique. “She wants to be able to take a basic look and accessorize it into her life.”
