The nationwide trend of closing golf clubs and growing management costs may be reversed with the help of a new cloud platform from Wayne’s OnGolf, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The platform consolidates all the relevant data required for successful golf management. This includes weather conditions, usage of pesticides and fertilizers, moisture and temperature of soil, and labor management – all of which are combined into a single dashboard that can be accessed through mobile devices.

“We bring the Moneyball approach, and provide data to let golf courses do more with less,” said Walt Norley, chairman and CEO of OnGolf.

Thanks to the dashboard, golf course managers can do everything in one place, such as improving how they allocate personnel, control overtime, and determine the most efficient water, pesticide, and fertilizer usage.

The software also provides analytics and recommendations that can help golf course’s reduce costs, while at the same time improve turf health and playing conditions. OnGolf also recently entered a transformative partnership up with John Deere Golf.

“It’s a game-changer for us,” said Norley. “It gave us bigger credibility. They have the biggest brand and the most customers in the golf market.”
