The tally is in, and Gladwyne has managed to retain its crown as the richest ZIP code in the Philadelphia region, writes Sandy Smith for Philadelphia Magazine.
Philadelphia Business Journal has published its annual list of the 25 wealthiest ZIP codes in the region as 19035 triumphed again.
Montgomery County suburb set just beyond the Philadelphia city line known for its huge mansions has an average household income of $250,693. This just beat out second placed Villanova’s 19085 average of $249,790. Montgomery County’s Merion Station ZIP code 19066 ranked third with $232,381 in average household income.
Other Montgomery County ZIP codes that made the top 25 include Ambler’s 19002 at 25 with an average household income of $155,161, Dresher’s 19025 at 19 with $178,555, Narberth’s 19072 at 16 with $171,279, Wynnewood’s 19096 at 12 with $171,105, and Bala Cynwyd’s 19004 at 11 with $176,663.
The list is compiled based on data supplied by Esri, a maker of geographic information systems software which also specializes in map-based data. The data used to determine the rankings includes average household income, average net worth, average disposable income, per capita income, as well as average home value.
