President of AmerisourceBergen Foundation Talks About its Charitable Work

President of AmerisourceBergen Foundation, Gina Clark, discusses the company’s foray into philanthropy and the causes it supports.

ChesterBrook’s AmerisourceBergen has donated millions to select causes since it launched the AmerisourceBergen Foundation two years ago, writes Fabiola Cineas for Philadelphia Magazine.

The Foundation most recently donated $50,000 to Project C.U.R.E. to collect medical equipment from hospitals in Philadelphia and donate them to developing countries. It has also announced a $250,000 grant to Partners in Health, the biggest nongovernmental healthcare provider in Haiti, for the construction and equipping of a new medical distribution center outside of the country’s capital.

Gina Clark, the president of the Foundation and AmerisourceBergen’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer, told Philadelphia Magazine that the Foundation was not the company’s first foray into philanthropy.

The establishment of the Foundation was the result of a very deliberate decision to pull all of the company’s philanthropic aspects together. Clark noted this was to help organize the considerable funds that were already being invested into philanthropic opportunities.

“We were already doing a lot of philanthropy in different parts of our company,” she said. “We are a company that was built by rolling up a lot of different companies, and there was always a very philanthropic intent for each individual company.”
