Three women from Montgomery County will represent the U.S. at the 2017 World Maccabiah Games in Israel next year as part of the Open Women’s Basketball Team, writes Liz Spikol for Jewish Exponent.

Allison Chernow and Lauren Rothfeld of Dresher and Hannah Fox of Plymouth Meeting will join forces with nine other athletes from across the country at the eagerly awaited international event. The team is guided by head coach, Sherry Levin, and assistant coach, Jennifer Cosgrove.

“It is an honor to be coaching such an exceptional group of women,” said Levin. “Hannah, Lauren and Allison bring so much enthusiasm and skill to our team. The tryout was very competitive, and they shined with the teamwork, hustle and talent.”

All of the team members play at the college level, with many of them coming from Division 1 schools.

“Our common goal is to win a gold medal,“ added Levin, “but the experience we will share will change lives.”

The 20th Maccabiah Games kicks off with its opening ceremony on July 6 next year.
