Collegeville Native, Field Hockey Star Rewrites Record Book at Penn

Alexa Hoover

Collegeville native and Methacton High School product Alexa Hoover is rewriting the record book for the University of Pennsylvania field hockey program, writes Matt Leon for CBS Philly.

Hoover recently broke Penn’s record for career points with 103 and tied the program record for career goals at 44. Those records had stood unchallenged for over three decades, and she is only five games into her junior season.

Hoover also set the single-season program record of 27 goals, as well as 63 points as a sophomore last year.

“I mean, it’s an unreal feeling to be able to see my name on the list of record holders,” she said.

Hoover was quick to point out that she is not the only reason for the Quakers’ good start.

“What people need to realize is you just don’t have to watch one player because it’s a team sport, and you need to worry about all of our forwards and midfielders and defenders,” she said.
