Still in Mourning, Ursinus College Students Grieve Loss of Beloved … Wawa

The unexpected switch of the Wawa near Ursinus College to a QuickStop in August caught many students by surprise and ended a 30-year run of “midnight snack runs, off-campus coffee cravings, and its beloved Hoagiefest,” Faith Carson wrote in The Grizzly, the school’s newspaper.

“Wawa was a communal Ursinus family tradition,” junior Colin McCloskey said. “It brought so many joyfully precious moments to many students, and not only satisfied the most stubborn of stomachs but also mended our hearts.”

Wawa PR Manager Lori Bruce said the decision to close “is never easy. We hope to continue to serve you at our other nearby Collegeville and Royersford locations, offering the level of service that will meet our core purpose, to fulfill customers’ lives every day.”

The QuickStop will offer sandwiches and on-the-go snacks with similar hours of operation, and campus food trucks are being brought in on weekends throughout the school year.
