The Horsham-based Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care has launched a coloring and activity book to try to get children interested in auto care from an early age, according to a staff report for Tire Business.
Developed in partnership with Advance Auto Parts, which is subsidizing the cost of printing, the book is designed to give children a sense of the importance of properly servicing a car. To do so, it uses a combination of connect-the-dots, word search, mazes, and compare the images with an answer page at the end of the book.
The idea is the brainchild of Derik Beck, Cottman’s vice president of digital marketing. He came up with it after discovering his own children were interested in participating in a project he was working on.
“This is for the kids,” said Beck. “Gives them something to do at home. And since I have two children of my own, I know that the more activities, the better. And if we can help them learn something they can use when they’re older, so much the better.”
