Klein Hersh, a Horsham-based recruiting firm, is helping bioscience companies find the experts they desperately need, writes Jane Von Bergen for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“Talent is being incubated here, and then it’s leaving,” said Jason Hersh, managing partner at Klein Hersh.

Specialty recruiters like Klein Hersh focus on employment trends in biosciences, covering the front line of demand in a different sector. At the moment, it is for experts in oncology.

“When there’s a breakthrough, all of a sudden the financing that is sitting on the sidelines gets interested,” said Hersh. “When that happens, they need to go find talent in whatever their niche is.”

The current breakthrough is the idea that, if found at a genetic level, cancer could potentially be prevented before it appears.

“A big area is understanding genetics and genomics,” said Hersh. “You are seeing a lot of personalized medicine.”

Hersh’s partner, Josh Albert, noted that there is a noticeable effort in the region’s bioscience and pharmaceutical fields to find a way to keep talent here.

According to the company, the answer comes down to making the city’s venture capitalists more willing to take a chance on projects that require the scientists and doctors that Klein Hersh tracks down for them.
