The Greene Turtle restaurant franchise is one step closer to welcoming customers in Montgomery Township after officials granted it a liquor license, writes Dan Sokil for the Lansdale Reporter.

During a recent public hearing, township officials approved a liquor license transfer for the new establishment at the former Pizzeria Uno at 1100 Bethlehem Pike.

“It was approved, the resolution was adopted by the board, and they anticipate that they’re going to open up that restaurant sometime around November,” said Township Manager Larry Gregan.

Last month, the owners submitted plans for the new restaurant, and since the liquor license for the former Pizzeria Uno was associated with a nearby hotel, the new restaurant needed a new one from the township supervisors.

After a public hearing over transferring the liquor license from a restaurant on DeKalb Street in Norristown, the approval was granted without contest.

“It is a chain, and these are franchisees, and they have several of them. It’s very popular in Maryland,” said Gregan.
