A rash of pill thefts pills resulted in a hefty court settlement and pushed Abington Hospital to invest close to $2 million in program to prevent similar thefts in the future.

Abington Hospital-Jefferson Health, formerly Abington Memorial Hospital, has 665 beds and more than 5,500 employees, including more than 1,100 physicians, and is one of the largest employers in Montgomery County. It has the only Level II trauma center in Montgomery County. Some of the services offered at the hospital include The Pilla Heart Center, The Rosenfield Cancer Center, and Neurosciences Institute.

Process Improvement Consultant

This position is responsible for facilitating strategic/operational changes and process improvement initiatives/projects. Such will be designed to achieve significant results in the key areas of clinical quality, cost effectiveness, service delivery, process redesign, outcomes measurement, risk avoidance/control, and regulatory compliance. He/she will collaborate with a broad constituency at all organizational levels to advocate the adoption and application of quality and process improvement concepts.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree – a Master’s Degree is preferred – in a discipline related to the requirements of the position. He/she will have five years of related quality/process improvement work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/skills. Work experience in hospital operations/management and/or management consulting is strongly preferred.

Compliance Auditor

This position promotes the goals of the compliance program and assists in the daily operations of the department. He/she will coordinate audits, conduct and report on investigations, monitor corrective actions, and maintain a system for documenting compliance activities. Other responsibilities include researching and responding to HIPAA and regulatory inquiries, investigating patient and hospital privacy concerns, and developing, coordinating, and conducting training programs.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare administration, nursing, business, or a related field, and have at least two years of hospital and/or health system compliance experience. Experience must include demonstrated knowledge of pertinent federal and state laws related to healthcare (HIPAA, Stark, False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback, etc.) and reimbursement policies.

Coding Analyst

This position is responsible for the assignment of codes to clinical information on inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room records according to CPT-4, ICD-9-CM, and ICD-10-CMPCS Coding Rules and Principles. He/she will support the development of a complete and accurate clinical and financial database.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of a program for Registered Records Administrators or Accredited Records Technicians. He/she will have one year of coding experience in an acute care facility. Computer and encoding skills are preferred. Proficiency in ICD-9-CM Basic Coding Rules and Principles, Medical Terminology, and Clinical Medicine is preferred.
