Ogontz School for Girls
The Ogontz School for Girls was an elite finishing school founded in 1850 in Philadelphia. It moved in 1883 to Jay Cooke’s “Ogontz” estate, then to a grand Rydal campus in 1917. It offered rigorous academics and physical training, later functioning as a junior college, and closed in 1950.
