Inside a Narberth Home That Doubles as a Living Work of Art

A Narberth woman transforms her home into a vibrant artistic space filled with handmade furniture, bold designs, and personal touches.

For one Narberth resident, her home isn’t just a place to live, it’s a canvas, writes Terri Ackman for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Carla Krash has spent nearly two decades transforming her 1,450-square-foot home into a living showcase of creativity, blending art, design, and personal storytelling throughout.

A psychotherapist by profession, Krash brings an eclectic approach to her interiors, often crafting pieces by hand and repurposing everyday materials into striking décor.

Her work spans from intricately stenciled walls, like the gold-layered, pearlescent bedroom design she painstakingly completed, to custom furniture. She keeps an upholstered bench built from vacuum-formed plywood and glass mosaic tiles.

In one of the home’s most eye-catching features, she even incorporated painted orecchiette pasta into a textured bathroom wall design.

Throughout the home, personal touches take center stage. A dining room cabinet features a pattern created from her daughter’s Chinese name stamp. Handmade clothing, accessories, and art installations double as both décor and functional storage.

Outside, Krash’s creativity extends to her backyard. She built a bamboo fence and a porch swing that serves as a gathering place for neighbors. The backyard reflects the close-knit feel of the Narberth community she calls home.
