Even Michael Rubin knows when to share the spotlight, writes Oli Coleman for Page Six.
The Lafayette Hill native is the mastermind behind one of the Hamptons‘ most exclusive summer parties.
This year, Rubin’s iconic bash is set for July 1 and Page Six suggests the timing is no coincidence, pointing to the rumored wedding between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce that’s expected to dominate the holiday weekend.
The Fanatics CEO and former minority owner of the Philadelphia 76ers has turned his annual summer party into a can’t-miss event, routinely drawing a who’s-who of celebrities.
Past guest lists have included everyone from Drake and Beyoncé to Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Brady, and Kim Kardashian.
But even Rubin’s star power might take a backseat if Swift’s rumored nuptials come together as expected.
The pop superstar is no stranger to headline-grabbing July 4 celebrations herself, making the potential overlap a social calendar nightmare for the A-list crowd.
Coleman speculates on whether Rubin is simply being strategic or politely stepping aside.
Not so fast, says TMZ, however. Sources with direct knowledge tell the outlet that July 1 was always the date, the only date that ever appeared on invitations, which went out to guests on April 1, a full eight days before the first public report of a Swift-Kelce wedding surfaced.
According to TMZ, Rubin’s reason for landing on July 1 had nothing to do with Taylor Swift. He simply wanted to avoid a potential conflict with a UFC event at the White House expected to fall on Independence Day.
