Cheltenham Township is turning America’s 250th anniversary into a year-long local celebration rooted in history, place, and community.
Cheltenham Celebrates America 250 brings residents closer to the Township’s story through tours, lectures, exhibits, and public events. The focus is clear. Show how Cheltenham’s people, institutions, and spaces connect to the broader American experience.
That momentum continues Friday, April 3 with the opening reception for the Shared Legacy: Proclaim Liberty exhibition at Temple Judea Museum.
From 4:00 to 7:00 PM, guests will experience:
- Light refreshments
- Historical readings at 4:30 and 6:30
- Live piano by Irina Bakis from 5:00 to 6:30
The exhibition looks at 250 years of the American experiment through a local lens. It connects Cheltenham Township, Congregation Keneseth Israel, and the surrounding community to the nation’s evolving story.
The setting invites reflection and gives visitors a clearer sense of how local history fits into something larger.
The exhibit runs through July 6, 2026. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
This is part of a monthly series running throughout 2026. Each event highlights a different piece of Cheltenham’s character.
The Cheltenham Passport 250 adds another layer. Attendees collect commemorative coins at each event, each tied to that month’s theme.
The April 3 event offers a chance to start or build the collection and work toward the full 12-coin set, designed as a lasting keepsake of the celebration.
