Gladwyne’s Jake Weinstein Brings Heartfelt Robots to Center City Gallery

Gladwyne artist Jake Weinstein debuts his robot-themed exhibit “Clankers” in Philly, blending creativity with family roots in robotics.

Gladwyne native Jake Weinstein has turned a lifelong fascination with robots into a rising artistic career, debuting his first solo exhibition, “Clankers,” at the Works on Paper Gallery in Rittenhouse Square, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Weinstein’s robot illustrations are far from cold machines. His dome-headed caretakers, quirky dancers, and expressive metal giants blend whimsy with emotional storytelling. Many of his pieces are framed with recycled wood and found materials, and several full-size sculptures are part of the show. Some works even echo the precision robotics used by his father, Dr. Gregory Weinstein, a pioneer of head-and-neck robotic surgery at Penn Medicine.

Raised in Gladwyne and now living in University City, Jake grew up surrounded by creative encouragement. His parents signed him up for art classes early, and he spent countless hours sketching characters that felt more human than mechanical. That foundation, paired with his father’s surgical robotics expertise, helped inspire a visual world where technology feels unexpectedly tender.

“Clankers” runs through December 31, and Weinstein is also contributing to the upcoming Ministry of Awe arts venue in Old City. His season plans remain grounded in family: another ambitious Lego build with his dad.
