Coatesville Area School District Reveals 2026-2027 Reorganization Plans

In its plans for the 2026-2027 school year, Coatesville Area School District will close two elementary schools alongside other changes.

Coatesville Area School District has revealed a significant reorganization plan for the 2026-2027 school year, writes Brooke Schultz for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The new plan, which the school board approved last week, includes two elementary school closures and new middle school feeder patterns.

As for closures, Caln Elementary School and East Fallowfield Elementary School will close at the end of this school year. With the new attendance plan, students will be redirected to Kings Highway Elementary School and Reeceville Elementary.

Coatesville Area School District superintendent Anthony Rybarczyk shared that the reorganization makes better geographical sense and will reduce transportation time.

A new elementary school, Doe Run Elementary School, will open in August. The new school, located at the former South Brandywine Middle School building, will boast updated facilities, something Rybarczyk said residents are looking for.

The changes come after a decline in CASD enrollment over the last several years. A significant population of students have left Coatesville schools for cyber and charter schools, disrupting CASD’s budget plans.

But recent changes have already led 64 students to re-enroll in CASD schools. With their numbers growing, Rybarczyk shared that additional refurbishment or reorganization plans might take place as the district plans for the future.
