Jeffrey A. Miller Hospitality Group is partnering with the owners of the former Landhope dairy farm on a $6 million adaptive reuse project to transform the site into a new wedding and event destination in Kennett Square, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Named Willowdale, the new event space is slated to open next September right door to the Willowdale Steeplechase racecourse.
Designed to accommodate up to 280 guests, the new venue will include boutique overnight lodging and a mix of indoor and outdoor ceremony settings, including the main barn, the Silo Courtyard, and the Silver Maple Lawn.
Landhope dairy farm served the local community with milk and ice cream until the herd was sold in 1996. Property owners Michael and Katherine Bucklin are collaborating with Miller Hospitality, which will oversee both event planning and on-site catering.
Together, they aim to preserve the farm’s open space and celebrate its agricultural heritage.
“So much of this project is about honoring what was already here,” said Katherine Bucklin. “We didn’t want to erase the past; we wanted to reveal it.”
