The community turned out at Richman’s Ice Cream Company in Prospect Park on Tuesday at a fundraiser for 8-year-old Lincoln Hanson, who is battling leukemia, writes Shawnette Wilson for Fox 29.

Twenty percent of sales from the fundraiser, which took place over three hours, will go to the family to cover medical expenses.

Lincoln was first diagnosed with cancer when he was three, but he went into remission. Now the cancer is back. He’s had 10 days of treatment and is about to begin a second round.

Lincoln’s aunt, Desiree Hager, described a rollercoaster of emotions for the family.

“He is so loved. Him and his family. We are just hoping the best for him,” she said.

Lincoln, meanwhile,  has been running around, laughing and “having the time of his life,” Hager said.

Cousin Jack Hager said Lincoln likes to play basketball and is a fan of robots..

Lincoln’s friends are missing him at school.

“It is just different without him at school,” said classmate Shane McHugh.

Zayn Francis, who played soccer with Lincoln in the first grade, had a message for him at the fundraiser.

“Everybody came for you and everybody loves you,” said Francis.
