Kimble Farm owners have entered a sales agreement with Rutter’s, but West Nottingham Township residents oppose the proposed new use for the property, writes Betsy Brewer Brantner for the Chester County Press.
Around 100 acres of the farm could be sold to the convenience store chain, pending discussions and approvals from the West Nottingham Township Board of Supervisors, the township’s Planning Commission, and the Zoning Hearing Board.
On Aug. 27, the Zoning Hearing Board discussed variances requested by M & G Realty on behalf of Rutter’s before a large group of residents. The meeting was adjourned at M & G’s request and rescheduled for Oct. 13.
The most common complaint from residents was that the proposed Rutter’s project would result in more trucks driving through Nottingham resulting in a general increase in traffic in the township.
Meanwhile, Ashley Donnelly from M & G Realty noted that Rutter’s is expected to have a positive economic impact on the area, increasing both employment and the tax base for West Nottingham Township.
“Across our company, we employ over 3,000 people, with locations like Nottingham averaging around 50 employees,” she said.
